fate's Harem
Artwork for the 26th International Korean Fashion Illustration Competition. The illustration received the "Participation Award." The piece was inspired by Leonardo de Vinci's "Adoration of the Magi." The half-finished painting reminded me of ghosts and the underworld. I used the painting as inspiration for the underworld setting. Gowns by John Galliano for Dior adorn the ghoulish women. Guache and acrylic paint; 65 x 48 cm.
Initial croquis were drawn using tracing paper overlays to create the final girls.
The girls were photoshopped onto the composition and transferred to the final ground. I then rendered the illustration in guache and acrylic paint.

Extensive studies were conducted to understand the hand of Stipleman. Croquis drawn from real life were edited using tracing paper. Garments were then drawn on croquis using tracing overlays. Drawings were transferred to the Canson paper with transfer paper. A dry brush and acrylic paint were used to render the illustrations.

Emily in Paris inspired outfits in the hand of Max Sergeev. Guache and chalk on toned paper. The two illustrations on the right are studies of pre-existing work by Sergeev. The illustration on the left is my original work. The process started with croquis and tracing overlays to get the proportions and perspective right. It was then transferred to the tone paper. The illustration is rendered in guache and chalked details were added afterwards.
